1. Who we are
Relocly ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at relocly.co.uk. We provide relocation guides, visa information, job listings, community tools, and an AI-powered relocation consultant to help people moving abroad.

2. What data we collect and why
Account & profile data
When you create an account — either via Google sign-in or email and password — we store your email address, display name, and (if using Google) your profile picture in our database (Supabase). Your email address is used only for authentication and to contact you about your account.
We also store a short onboarding profile in your browser's local storage (your nationality, destination city, and preferred language) to personalise your experience. This data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.
Legal basis: Contract performance (account management); Legitimate interest (personalisation).
Newsletter subscriptions
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your first name and email address. This data is stored in our database (Supabase) and sent to Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.) to manage email delivery. Mailchimp is based in the United States and operates under Standard Contractual Clauses for GDPR compliance.
Legal basis: Consent. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email we send.
Payment data
If you purchase an AI Consultant session (£9.99), payments are processed by Stripe (Stripe Inc.). We never see or store your card details. Stripe stores payment information securely in accordance with PCI-DSS. We store only your user ID and a reference to the Stripe session in our database to activate your purchased session.
Legal basis: Contract performance.
Usage & session data
We track how many free AI messages you have used via your browser's local storage. No usage analytics or tracking scripts (e.g. Google Analytics) are currently active on Relocly.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (preventing abuse).

4. Cookies
We use the following cookies on Relocly:
- Session cookies — Set by Supabase to keep you signed in. Strictly necessary.
- Google Translate cookies — Set when you use the language switcher to remember your selected language. You can disable this by not using the translation feature.
We do not use advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies.
5. Your rights (UK GDPR)
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — Ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Portability — Receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent — Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
- Object — Object to processing based on legitimate interest.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
6. Data retention
- Account data is retained while your account is active. Delete your account to remove it.
- Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe.
- AI session records (for paid sessions) are retained for 12 months for billing purposes.
- Browser local storage data is stored on your device and deleted when you clear your browser data.
7. Children's privacy
Relocly is not intended for use by children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
