Frequently asked questions
Which UK visa do I need to work in the UK?▾
If you have a job offer from a UK employer with a sponsor licence, you most likely need a Skilled Worker Visa. Healthcare workers may qualify for the Health & Care Worker Visa, which has lower fees and no NHS surcharge.
Do I need a visa to visit the UK?▾
It depends on your nationality. Citizens of the US, EU, Canada, and Australia do not need a visa for short visits under 6 months, but do need a UK ETA from 2026. Nationals of other countries typically need a Standard Visitor Visa.
What is the minimum salary for a UK Skilled Worker Visa?▾
From April 2026, the minimum salary is £41,700 per year or the going rate for the specific occupation, whichever is higher. The role must also be at RQF Level 6 (degree level) or above.
Can my family come with me on a UK work visa?▾
Yes. Most long-term UK visas allow you to bring a spouse or civil partner and children under 18 as dependants. They can work and study in the UK during your visa period.
